In December of the same year, erwin acquired the business process modeling software Casewise, with a plan to integrate the two. In September 2016, erwin announced that it had acquired Corso, a British enterprise architecture service provider. The company now operates under a new name stylized as erwin, Inc. In April 2016, Parallax Capital Partners, a private equity firm, acquired the software from CA Technologies and appointed Adam Famularo as CEO. This acquisition was blocked by the Department of Justice over anti-competitive concerns. In 2014 Embarcadero Technologies sought to acquire the product from CA, Inc. The tool was later renamed to CA ERwin Data Modeler. ERwin was initially made part of CAвЂ™s Jasmine suite but it was later added to their new AllFusion suite under the name AllFusion ERwin Data Modeler. In 1998, Logic Works was acquired by Platinum Technology which was later acquired, in May 1999, by Computer Associates (CA). As of 1996, ERwin was among several data modeling software solutions being used to facilitate a wide move to the clientвЂ“server model in database management. In May 1995, Logic Works ERwin was expanded to include several other IDEs, adding SQLWindows from Gupta Technologies and Visual Basic from Microsoft.

The database models created using ERwin could be translated into software built through the PowerBuilder integrated development environment (IDE). In May 1993, Logic Works released ERwin/ERX, a version of the tool designed to work in conjunction with PowerBuilder. Usage restriction based on network domain name or subnet IP can be implemented for each type of licenses.ERwin was created by Logic Works, which was based in Princeton, New Jersey.

Note: Your license administrator needs to ensure that the Maintenance End Date is set. To keep a track of the maintenance period, erwin DM lets you set a maintenance expiration reminder. Once the maintenance/support period is over, you need to renew the maintenance plan to be able to receive updates and support. Any product updates that are released during the registered maintenance/support period are allowed. Along with product, a year of support is included.

This method uses a multi-step activation process as follows:

The licensing service then validates and activates the license code that you entered. This method connects to the licensing service over the Internet. Next, both the above licensing models let you activate licenses using either of the following mechanisms: Online If you are unable to return your license, submit a request to erwin Support. However, there is a restriction on the number of times you can return a node-locked license. Such licenses cannot be shared between users on different devices unless a user returns the license.

This licensing mechanism uses your device ID to let you use the license and grant access to the DM. Therefore, if an 11th user tries to use the DM, access is denied.

For example, if you have a ten-user concurrent license, ten users can access the DM at a time using the license. Simultaneous access to the DM is available to as many users as the number of allowed users on a concurrent license. This licensing model is based on a pool of licenses shared between several users.
